This week has been a little long for me.  I am still enjoying my clinical, but it has definitely been interesting.  The hospital that I am working at serves the medically indigent (uninsured) population, so I get patients with a variety of diagnoses and usually very complex medical problems.  I have had several patients who have been hit by cars, intentionally and unintentionally.  I've had patients tell me that they smoke marijuana.  I even had a patient who yelled at me and threatened to walk out of the room because he didn't want to be treated by a student.  I'm definitely ready to be an official physical therapist.  Being a student gets a little old after a while, especially now that I am pretty much independent with my patients.  However, I know that I still have so much to learn and I will only learn by experience.  I also have had some patients that I've really connected with.  I really enjoy working with the elderly population.  They are so sincere and so excited to work with a young person.  I had one patient with tears in her eyes when she left after her last visit because she was thankful for all the help we had given her.
Now that Jeff is gone I get bored every once in a while, but watching the Olympics has kept me entertained.  I am so thankful for my gracious hosts - that I have a place to stay and someone to talk to.  Only 3 1/2 weeks left in Denver!  Time has flown by!
